i saw some people firespinning over the weekend. they were awesome. i took a crapload of pictures and uploaded what i thought were the best. they're behind a cut and there's a lot of them. not many comments tho.
i took them all with a very slow shutter speed (1/10th of a second to 1.3 seconds), and so they're not very clear, but the fire tracks are impressive, which is what i was going for.

i read the news at work (it's technically part of my job), and came across this article:

I don't talk about being mixed-race that often*, but this kind of, well, struck a nerve? and i know there are a few of you reading this who are also of multi-ethnic backgrounds, so maybe this is vaguely important to youse too.

The bone marrow donor registry is offering free online registration right now. I'm about halfway through the process myself. I can't tell anyone else what to do with their bodies, but if you're a beautiful and unique snowflake like me you may want to consider it.
I hope it never happens (hell, i _hate_ physical pain, and i'm led to believe the donation procedure isn't exactly comfortable), but i'd rather be there for someone, especially if nobody else can.

my trusty nes-2, over ten years old, seems to have finally bitten the dust. the only controller that works is the Advantage, and that's just not comfortable for most games. i'm going to miss it.

the cherry tree is this close to blooming. i spent a little time playing with the "macro" feature of my camera and some depth of field stuff.

i discovered during dinner that i've increased my capsaicin tolerance to the point where frank's redhot, long beloved by my family as an all-purpose hot sauce, now tastes like nothing more than tangy vinegar. this both pleases and saddens me.

in other news, i'm not sleeping well and it's very cold out. this doesn't bode well for the upcoming spring and summer.

in the whole election frenzy, i didn't make any posting or general announcing that yesterday was lazysun's and my second wedding anniversary.
we did go out to dinner, but much of our celebration was preempted by the madness. and admittedly, a lot of that is my fault -- my multiracial, big city, fake american ass had more of a dog in the race than my farm-raised mrs. -- so maybe tonight we can have a better one.

i totally and entirely blame orangejulius' post for inspiring me to create this image.

the biggest thing that bugs me about it is mccain's cheek. i have to keep reminding myself that it actually looks like that for reals.

i went back to work today. the biggest problem was that i can't move as fast as i'm used to -- i just don't have the breath, it seems. and since my usual walk could be called "city stroll", it feels like i'm crawling, even though i'm probably walking just a little bit slower than everyone around here tends to move.
the doctor gave me "get better" drugs; however, she did not give me "feel better" drugs. so i'm hoping that the "get better" bit kicks in soon. i'm tired of being dizzy and slow.

according to the doctor (who was very nice), it is likely a sinus infection, so at least i have an excuse for being so fucking wiped out. whee!

i don't know why colds hit me so hard, but it sucks. graaaaaaah.
